This tour is characterised by an indescribably beautiful and changing landscape, the powerful river Danube and traditional thermal baths. Between the Austrian flood plains, Schüttinsel and the Danube Bend, you will experience lots of Hungarian art, culture and nature. Spas and thermal baths add an air of exclusiveness.
Day 1
Individual Arrival in Vienna  
Take the opportunity today to visit the Danube metropolis, and let the charm of the city enthuse you. Visit Schönbrunn Castle, the Imperial Spanish Riding School, the Ferris Wheel with great views over the city ort he cathedral of Stephansdom. Whether you take a horse and carriage ride, a visit to a café or an evening visit to a wine-bar: start your holiday off with a taste of Vienna.

Day 2
Vienna - Bad Deutsch Altenburg (ca. 46 km)
The Danube cycle path leads you out of the city and through pristine river valley forests. In Orth you can visit one of the largest Renaissance castles in Austria. The route then continues on to today’s destination, where in you shouldn’t miss a look at the Roman history in the archaeological park in Petronell-Carnuntum.

Day 3
Bad Deutsch Altenburg - Schüttinsel (ca. 61 km)
Bedded in between the Hainburg Mountains and the Lesser Carpathian Mountains, the blue band of the Danube meanders along. You will start off with a short train journey and then cycle on to Bratislava. The newest EU-capital city is located in between the Danube plains, hills and vineyards and charms visitors with its magical old town. The landscape of the "Schüttinsel", a paradise for birds and fish is magical.

Day 4
Schüttinsel - Babolna (ca. 58 km)
The landscape continues to be marked by swamps and flood plains. The industrial city of Györ, which is surrounded by rivers and nature, impresses visitors with a large number of protected buildings and attractions. The National Stud in Babolna is world famous for its breeding of Arabian horses. During a visit to the stud and the attached museum you will initiated into the secrets of Hungarian horse breeding.

Day 5
Babolna - Tata/Area(ca. 35/45 km)
Tata is also known as the "Water City". One of its most important attractions is the Zsigmond-Castle from the 14th century on the shore of the old lake. The city offers visitors fishermen’s huts and windmills, the geological museum on Mount Kalvaria is worth a visit due to its chapel, statues and the 45m high viewing tower.

Day 6
Tata/Area- Visegrad (ca. 54 km) & boat trip or transfer
The route leads through the foothills of the Gerecse Mountains, where deep forests provided lots of shade.  The attractive town of Esztergom on the Danube Bend is the seat of the head of the Hungarian Catholic Church. The dome of the basilica, which is Hungary’s largest church, can be seen from afar. You will be able to enjoy a fantastic view of the magical riverside landscape during a boat or train journey through the Danube Bend to Visegrad.

Day 7
Visegrad - Budapest (ca. 58 km)
In the middle of the hilly landscape the river splits in tow, after a ferry crossing (not included in the holiday price)  you will continue on cycling along narrow roads through idyllic, small towns. The small town of Szentendre, with its numerous craft shops and the open air museum of Skanzen is well known.  The crowning glory of the trip is the overnight stay in the traditional Hotel Gellert with its amazing thermal baths in the Jugendstil style.

Day 8
Budapest and individual return journey home
Take advantage of the day to sightsee in the busy Danube metropolis. Many view the city as being the most beautifully located city in the world: The Danube flows through the city like a silver thread and separates the two sections of the city; Buda and Pest. Although the city in its modern form is only 100 years old, visitors can feel the remnants of the style and glamour of the monarchy throughout the city. We would also be more than happy to extend your stay in Budapest or Vienna.

    The route is mainly along flat paths, in Austria along well kept cycle paths, in Hungary along agricultural tracks and quiet roads. However, there may be heavy traffic when entering and leaving towns and villages.

    Departure by bus at 5 pm (on request the bus can leave at 12 am), arrival in Vienna ca. 8 pm
    For those who are in a hurry there is an express boat which travels to Vienna (Departure ca. 9 am, subject to a surcharge). (Timetable may be subject to change).
