Danube - Shipping museum Regensburg

Schifffahrtsmuseum

The museum is located aboard to historical Danube ships, the paddle wheel steamer “RUTHOF / ÉRSEKCSANAD” (built in 1923) and the motorized ship “FREUDENAU” (built in 1942). Most of the rooms on the ship are in their original condition. One can visit the boiler plants, the mechanical equipment, the cockpit and the helmstand as well as the galley. The cramped accommodation that was used by the ship's crew is especially interesting. In the exhibit rooms aboard the “RUTHOF”, models, display boards and items from the everyday life of  the Danube mariners clarify how life on the river must have been in the course of time.
