Neuburg Castle

Neuburg Castle

Count palatine Ottheinrich (1502-1559) had the medieval castle remodeled to rennaisance castle grounds. The castle chapel, finished in 1543, was the first protestant church building in Germany. It was painted impressivly by Hans Bocksberger in the style of the rennaisance. Today you can find a branch of the archaelogical state collection Munich here, which exhibits findings from the Cretaceous period to the Middle Ages here.
