Monastery Beuron

Monastery Beuron

In the year 1077 the Augustinian monastery Beuron was founded in utmost seclusion, even though there might have been an ever older predecessor.
Completely destroyed in the 30 year war and then rebuilt, it fell victim to the secularization in 1815.
In 1863  the royal house of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen assisted the Benedictine Order with the resettlement.
A short while later it gained national fame, the founding of subsidiaries and the development of the ''Beuron Art School''. Visitors and pilgrims are welcome, those who are interested are welcome to spend some time in the monastery. In the adjoining shop one can purchase goods made in the monastery.
