Gäuboden museum Straubing

Gäuboden museum

The “Gäuboden”-Museum in Straubing offers a comprehensive general idea of Straubing's history and that of the Gäuboden. The core of the museum's inventory is the famous Straubing Roman treasure. Buried during the Alemanni invasions and rediscovered in 1950, it especially contains Roman state armor and other metallic artifacts that were hidden due to their value. The collection is complemented by exhibits that document the development of the Straubing area from the Neolithic to the time of the founding of the Bavarian state.
